I just found this in an old depression ad
Yellow Icing for Jack o’Lantern Smiles:
1 egg yolk 1-1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 tsp melted butter 1 tbsp orange juice
1 tbsp grated orange rind
Break up egg yolk with fork. Add sugar alternately with the butter and orange juice. Add the orange rind.
I'd only do this if you have farm fresh eggs that you can trust and orange rind that you are sure hasn't been sprayed. Looks fun!

Birthday party! Cowboy up!

We had an awesome natural Feingold birthday party today! We had a cowboy theme and these were the cute cupcakes I made. Chocolate on Chocolate with Newman O's crushed up for the dirt. The little horses were at the party store. We served hot chocolate with the cupcakes. It was such a great day to do the party, 55 degrees which was warmer than normal. The kids rode the horses in the back pasture, practiced roping, and built a tipi. Then we had the food, and watched our friend perform in a little rodeo. All in all it was a great day!

Cake decorating, what a great idea
This idea comes from Gina...
What a great idea! She pipes melted chocolate onto a silpat sheet in the form of letters, lets them cool, then stands them up on the cake. How cute!
I want a picture from someone who tries this. My son's birthday was just yesterday and I would have loved to do it. We just did a 9 out of chocolate chips and used colorful candles. Watch out for the candle drips though.

Valentines Day

Here's another beautiful cake. This one is the chocolate cake recipe from the Feingold binder. The frosting is regular buttercream but with raspberry juice instead of the milk. MMMMMMMMMM I can smell it now. Thanks Suzanne.
Also, a Valentine's day tip that people use for any holiday with treats. Let your kids leave their bad candy near their bed. Have the Feingold fairy trade it for good stuff in the morning.
